Module 4: Conducting Competency Based Training



Module 4 in TTT is Conducting Competency Based Training. We analysed the Attitude-Skills-Knowledge competency gaps from our target audience, we designed the right training in order to close the ASK competency gaps, how do we deliver the content effectively and get the outcome that we want? This module teaches about coordinating training arrangements, preparing yourself as a trainer for the particular training, practice and apply engaging presentation skills.

Planning the delivery is very important.  A trainer must also have backup plans for different possible scenarios of interruption like technical issues, malfunction equipments and fire drill to name a few. All that shouldn't stop a trainer from planning the sessions properly, ensuring the materials are delivered in a timely manner and always sticking to the objectives. The pic shows our participants practicing facilitation skills. A good facilitator is able to get the discussion going, dig more information from the audience and let them draw connections among the different ideas shared.

One of the challenge in conducting a training session is the possibility of lecturing all the way. Remember module 1? Adult learners have their own knowledge and experience. Leverage those information. Shine the spotlight on the audience. Besides, by letting the audience share what they know and THEN give them the new info (known to unknown), audience will learn better and have better memory retention.
