Module 3: Design Competency Based Training

Module 3 in TTT is Designing Competency Based Training. Once we know what are the Attitude-Skills-Knowledge competency gaps from our target audience, how do we design the right training in order to close the gaps? This module teaches about writing proper learning outcomes, organizing training content, preparing a session plan, and developing training resources.

Sometimes, there are different people who designed the training (instructional designer) and conducted the training (trainer). In such a situation, preparing a session plan should not be done during designing the module. But more often than not, trainers are also the instructional designers. Hence, the planning of the session and content can be done simultaneously. As practiced during the TTT program, trainers must design their own training. We approach the learning realistically so trainers can design their own training module in the most practical way.

Here are some of the participants real struggle that we encounter during this module:-
1. Some participants have to unlearn and relearn the proper way of writing learning outcomes (LO). When it comes to LO, think inside the classroom (not outside the box).
2. Some experts grapple with figuring the right content to meet the LO.
3. Some need to think hard about time allocation when preparing their session plan.
4. Some realized they need to incorporate different methodologies to appeal to their audience.
5. Many acknowledged that they need to upgrade their PowerPoint skills to better design their presentation slides.

We love to see when the participants eyes lit up once they understood the whole process and acknowledged that now they got it 😍

If you're patient with the learning process, the reward of new knowledge and skills are worth it.
